The new Brazilian company will be launched on June 29 with a symbolic flight between São Paulo (Guarulhos) and Brasilia. The next day it will start regularly operating 10 flights connecting São Paulo with Belo Horizonte, Rio de Janeiro / Galeao, Salvador de Bahia, Curitiba and Porto Alegre.
After obtaining the Air Operator Certificate (COA) from the Brazilian Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC for its initials in Portuguese) at the end of April, the company wasted no time and announced the various routes that it will start in the coming months.
As reported by our associated media in Brazil, AEROIN, Itapemirim requested 153 routes from the competent authority, mainly between the capitals of each state. The company is going strong and will face directly the other three major national airlines (Azul, GOL and LATAM). This could be an advantage for consumers, as there will be the possibility of a price war, especially in the post-pandemic period, as demand gradually recovers.
In fact, the new company launched rates below its rivals, seeking to gain market share.
According to the itinerary obtained through the reservation system, the beginning of each city is as follows:
The company expects to join 35 cities with 50 aircraft before June 2022. São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Brasilia concentrate most of the routes. In this first instance, it expects to receive ten Airbus A320ceos and two Airbus A319ceos, to go on to acquire five aircraft per month to reach the desired goal of 2022.
The company received a USD 500 million investment in funds from the United Arab Emirates, said Sidnei Piva, President of the Itapemirim Group, to Reuters.
Piva added that Itapemirim will not follow the ultra-low-cost model that is in vogue now, but will instead focus on high-quality service on board, generous legroom and free luggage.
The Itapemirim Group has one of the largest bus companies in Brazil, in its commercial speech it announced that they will combine airfare and bus tickets in the future, which would reduce travel time between the smallest cities in Brazil without greatly increase the cost.
